Mr. Leandro García, Chief Executive Officer
Prior to becoming CEO in 2020, Leandro has held various roles at Buenaventura, including as CFO and Controller General. Prior to rejoining Buenaventura in 2011, Leandro was CEO of Inkafarma, Peru’s largest pharmacy chain operating more than 1,000 stores nationwide as part of InRetail Pharma. Prior to this role, he served as CEO of Boticas BTL.
Leandro also is CEO of Sociedad Minera El Brocal and serves as Director of Compañía Minera Coimolache, Compañía Minera Colquirrumi, Compañía Minera Condesa, Consorcio Energético de Huancavelica, Empresa de Generación Huanza, Procesadora Industrial Río Seco and Sociedad Minera El Brocal. He is an Alternate Director of Sociedad Minera Cerro Verde.
Leandro holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and accounting from the Universidad del Pacífico in Lima, Peru, and holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Miami in Florida. He completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School in 2017.
Juan Carlos Ortiz has been Buenaventura’s Vice President of Operations since 2018. Prior to assuming this role, Mr. Ortiz was the Technical Services Manager at Volcan Compañía Minera, a polymetallic mining company and one of the largest zinc, lead, and silver producers in the world, where he oversaw the company’s Engineering, Projects, Planning, and Environmental Matters, as well as Volcan’s Alpamarca and Cerro de Pasco operations.
Prior to this post, he was Chief Operations Officer at Compañía Minera Milpo (now part of the Nexa Resources Group), where he was responsible for the Cerro Lindo, Atacocha, and El Porvenir operations.
Juan Carlos holds a Bachelor of Mining Engineering from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Peru and a master’s degree in Engineering, with a focus on Mineral Engineering Management, from Pennsylvania State University.
Daniel has served as Buenaventura’s CFO since 2020. He joined the company 25 years ago and has held various roles, including Supply Chain Manager, from 2017 to 2020 and Director of Treasury and Financial Planning, Investor Relations Officer and Financial Manager, from 2003 to 2017.
Daniel also serves as Board Member of Sociedad Minera El Brocal, Empresa de Generación Huanza, and several other subsidiaries within the group.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and a Master of Business Administration from the
Universidad del Pacífico. Daniel completed the General Management Program at Harvard
Business School and the Corporate Finance Program at the London Business School.
